Lakbay is a Filipino word meaning travel. This blog will chronicle my journey through life. Through it, I will share my joys, my pains, my craziness, my thoughts, my music, and my soul.

Another Rainy Weekend
typhoon egay is slow coming. i hope it doesnt build up to be very strong winds. that would be such a disaster.
just this morning though, news have reported that it's slowly intensifying. i join the whole nation in prayer that not much damage will be left in its path.

Lead Me Lord
there's new development here at the lab. blah, blah... but that's work.
on another note, it's been two months since queen moved to a new job. she's back in the city... seeing the city lights, walking the streets once more, watching the usual city sights again. sometimes i feel melancholic just thinking about my friend. and sometimes, i too think of the what might be - and mind you, these are big IF's in my life right now.
for almost five years now i've been having thoughts about shifting careers. this was triggered by the dire need to augment my present income. times are getting harder day by day. and one of the things i learned is that i need to add to my income streams. i've had my hand at some business of some sorts, but i realized i'm not that much of a business person myself. maybe someday, i'd be more determined, more patient, more focused.
however, the last couple of years have seen me pining for something more. i can't describe it well. i just know that there's something deep inside me that's telling me to go and take another road. i wish i'd have the inner strength to go through with it. and i pray that the Lord lead me to where i'm going.
but for now, i will be here to continually support my family in whatever endeavour we'd next find ourselves in.
"Comfort me through all the pain that life may bring
You're the only hope that I can lean upon
Lead me Lord, lead me all my life.
Walk by me, walk by me across the lonely road that I may face
Take my arms and let your hand show me the way."

What I'm Reading
Here's what i've been reading these past weeks. borrowed it from my sis-in-law, who borrowed it from her mom. didn't get to watch the movie however. you see, it came with a cd. but it was quite a charming book. and you get to learn the secret straightaway, when you open to the first page. just need to gobble through the pages to let the message sink in, though.

wanna know the secret? ",) happy watching!!

Picking Daisies
Here's something else to ponder on. The following is taken from Chicken Soup for the Soul, written by Nadine Stair. Yes, I'm taking time to stop and smell the roses.. and pick daisies, too.
If I Had My Life to Live Over
(I'd Pick More Daisies)
I'd dare to make more mistakes next time.
I'd relax, i would limber up.
I would be sillier than I have been this trip
I would take fewer things seriously
I would take more chances
I would climb more mountains and swim more rivers
I would eat more ice cream and less beans
I would perhaps have more actual troubles,
but I'd have few imaginary ones
You see, I'm one of those people who live sensibly
and sanely hour after hour, day after day
Oh, I've had my momentsand if I had it to do over again,
I'd have more of them
In fact, I'd try to have nothing else
Just moments, one after another,
instead of living so many years ahead of each day
I've been one of those persons who never
goes anywhere without a thermometer,
a hot water bottle, a raincoat and a parachute.
If I had to do it again,
I would travel lighter than I have
If i had my life to live over,
I would start barefoot earlier in the spring
and stay that way later in the fall
I would go to more dances,
I would ride more merry-go-rounds.
I would pick more daisies.

Life's Journey
We had a one-day olympics last Saturday back in the plant premises. Our team won, yey! Go Purple Team! Go for the Win! hehe...

I had fun watching my teammates and the other teams play. In fact i got tired watching, hahaha. I'm not really the sporty type, you see. I cheered, silently. teeheehee. my roommie anne cooked sinigang for lunch at the staffhouse and boy, were we hungry! after cleaning up and washing the dishes, we dashed to Rowena's at tagaytay for some apple pie, blueberry pie and what-nots for her sister anna's birthday. rowena's apple pie are to-die- for. just simply scrumptious! we snacked on carrot cake and i sampled their minty cappuccino while anne had mango shake.
we dropped by sta rosa heights on the way up to take a look at the house she's been saving up for and there started our discussion on financial matters. i tried sharing what i learned from the sessions i've attended on financial management. have been attending classes on this um-important aspect in my life right now. thanks to my sis-in-law for keeping me in the loop on this arena. tito bo's community has been organizing sessions on this topic. and even with him in the US right now, i'm so grateful that i was able to attend. even met another Iliganon there, the sister of my classmate in elementary. the speaker was also from Iligan. did some homework to monitor my cashflow, and i realized that much of my expenses these past 2 years have been on travels. of course, had a defensive stance on this one thing in the world that i enjoy so much! will probably do some de-prioritization for the time being while i build on that emergency fund and wealth fund.

my travels, haaay... i get such high when i'm on the road. i really, really enjoy the planning, the booking, the flying/roadtripping, etc. the photos do not even actually compare with the actual experience and the myriad of insights one gets from the journey, the people, the places, the food, nature and so much more. i cannot explain it.
yesterday's responsorial psalm reminded me of my life's journey and the guidance i will continually need from the Lord. "Panginoon, gabayan niyo po kami sa aming paglalakbay." i will need more of Him, and will continue to seek His loving guidance and merciful grace whenever and wherever I may be. we never know when this life's journey will end and how. like my good Uncle Nanding who really took time to drive me to and fetch me from my office whenever he was here in Sta Rosa. heard from my mom that he died last Friday due to a heart attack while at work in Saudi. may the Lord bless his good soul.
"There is great meaning in life for those who are willing to journey."

Siam Trip
June's halfway over and I only have time to blog just now. It's my friend Tonki's birthday today and was just too happy to hear she's well and even promoted her daughter Pau's print comm in Pink. As I have mentioned in a previous post, a colleague friend has been assigned to Thailand for expat work there. Three of us from work took a quick trip to the land of the elephants and stayed at Ate Jo's flat when this month started. We came back last June 5th. And in all our excitement and busy workload upon getting back, I have completely fogotten to blog about my recent lakbay.
It was not a totally uneventful trip, let me tell you. We did a super rush planning about a few days before we left, emailed 'te jo our itinerary and upon her reco agreed to just finalize once we arrive. Seems we penned in everything we read and saw on the internet worth going to, but hardly have enough time to do the rounds of Bangkok.
The day of our departure loomed dark ahead as the grey skies promised heavy rains the whole day. I had a very unpleasant encounter with my boss during lunchbreak but my pals were telling me to forget about it lest our trip will be spoiled. Needless to say, seems that everything that could possibly go wrong went wrong just before we left. But refusing to let anything spoil my mood, just dove in for the rest of the weekend with hearts anticipating days of fun. And that's just what we got: fun, sun, tan...

more fun, more sun, more tan....

and of course....

it was really super tiring yet super fun. I want to go back. Hint, hint, 'te jo.... ",)
You can read more about what we did and where we went to from Q's adventures blog.
